Airline maintenance facilities:
Using AeroProtect in the cabin can reduce rework, cut labor costs and contribute to faster return to service.

Airliner in maintenanceSome 10 to 15% of an airline’s direct operating costs come from aircraft maintenance. The portion of that cost that comes from rework in the passenger compartment due to incidental damage caused by maintenance personnel is not insignificant.

Common practice during a ‘C’ check, when the plane is taken out of service for more detailed scheduled maintenance, typically involves covering exposed surfaces using specialized paper and masking tape. The process is neither efficient nor particularly effective.

OFPSI developed AeroProtect products to speed the application of protection, to offer a tougher, more durable protection, to reduce the average amount of rework required and to simplify and shorten removal. All can have a significant impact, not only on effort and costs, but on reducing the aircraft’s time on ground.

AeroProtect manufactures convenient spray-on protection and durable transparent films that resists heavy traffic, grease and maintenance related substances and the dropping of tools and other objects. Paper and tape are prone to tears, bleed through and dislocation. Coverings are typically replaced many times during a job. AeroProtect has repeatedly demonstrated that it can be a one application for the entire project solution.

A carrier using AeroProtect Film for Carpet can reduce the frequency of carpet replacement and extend the life of high-churn high-traffic surfaces.

AeroProtect Film for Fabric with somewhat less aggressive adhesive protects silk carpeting and fine fabrics on wall panels, bulkheads and other vertical surfaces. Portions of the film can be peeled away to attend to particular areas and replaced with full adherence. Technicians can even write on the AeroProtect surface without consequence to the material beneath.

Avoid static charge damage to sensitive electronics.

Plexiglas and Lexan windows scratched or damaged during maintenance can be expensive and time consuming to replace. AeroProtect produces a liquid spray, AeroProtect Pro Plus with a formulation safe for non-porous polycarbonate surfaces such as windows and mirrors. There is no cutting from window-shaped patterns or taping during application. Removal requires no tools and leaves no residue to clean up.

AeroProtect Pro liquid and film prove safer than the adhesive products in use today because adhesives can trap static. Workers using them have been known to foul out touch screen displays and sensitive electronics. AeroProtect allows static to dissipate.

AeroProtect adheres to surfaces with a system of thousands of microscopic craters that work by creating many partial vacuums between the film and the target surface like micro “suction cups.” The material will peel back and re-attach repeatedly, leaving no residue on the protected surface. To remove, you simply peel the film off. No tools necessary.

How to Buy AeroProtect

AeroProtect

Proceed with caution.

As with any product or substance you introduce into your materials and processes specifications, test AeroProtect products on non-production samples of the surfaces you plan to protect. Consult with OFPSI on your plans for applying the products. Different AeroProtect liquids and films were
developed for specific surfaces and can
cause significant damage if used incorrectly.
