From the beginning, OFPSI has been deployed as a “Ghost Buster,” ala the 1984 comedy movie. In the film, a group of specialists were called in when a customer discovered a ghost haunting their home or business. With OFPSI, the “ghost” was a flammability test failure endangering an aircraft completion project. The customer didn’t have the expertise to solve the problem and the project had come to a standstill.

OFPSI experts traveled to the completion center, assessed the material combination, prescribed the treatment and then, literally treated the problem materials themselves using tested and documented techniques. Because the situation was urgent, the engagement exclusive and the execution accomplished around other work schedules, the on-site correction was costly and intricate.
The reactionary nature of the solution caused anxiety at the completion center and the on-call, emergency character of engagements made life inconvenient and unpredictable for OFPSI technicians.
Introducing OFPSI products and expertise during the preliminary design review (PDR) or at least prior to the critical design review (CDR) would provide early advice on material selection and coupon preparation to the designer and engineering team.
While still available for crisis assignments (972-542-6140) on an off-site testing and analysis basis, the company will typically license the technology and exact process specification to trained and certified employees of the completion center. The model has proven more satisfactory to both parties.
